    Jacob,
Being a Survival Specialist, as you are, I would think you would want a pistol that functions flawlessly, and is accurate enough to hit what you want the first time to save ammo. Do yourself a favor and get a Ruger MK pistol or equal/better. Who needs a jammed up or blown up pistol in a survival situation? I have 1500-2000 rounds through my MKIII and not one single FTE, FTF to this point. I wouldn't want anything less if my life depended on it. Just my opinion.

Oh yea, by all means, I'm personally getting a MK III for myself. But, I don't have a lot of money to get several, which is why I'm just looking for little range day guns more than anything. I'd trust my life to the MKIII, just looking for something I can pick up with one pay check and have some fun with is all.

The Heritage Mfg Rough Rider revolver is good for an inexpensive handgun. You can find them for $200 or less in a lot of places. They make 6 and 9 shot models and have some that come with .22 magnum cylinders. They have a hammer-block safety which takes getting used to but are fun to shoot. Mine shoots .22 Short, Long, and LR ammo equally well.
