Tomob1,

it sounds like we may have been separated at birth or at least are close relatives. Was your Dad a traveling salesman or a milkman in Kentucky back in the mid 60's. I may have to have a long talk with my Mom. (LOL)

My wife is currently laided up from a surgery she had on Monday of this week, so I took a week off from work to care for her. About Tuesday joined this forum to keep my sanity and bought 200 C/B caps to shoot blackbirds out of the back bedroom window. Home care giver and livin maid will never be a job opinion no matter how hungry I get.

I have killed coyotes with a lot of rifles, but when I am calling specifically for them I like my .17 Rem (not fireball) and my .204 Rug. I normally am not a huge fan of extreme velocity and frangible bullets but these rifle do great jobs on yotes and fox.

Many years ago I shot one with a 30-06. The bullet was a 150 grain pointed soft point bullet. No real drama to the dog, just stopped him real fast. In my case, the 30-06 was just there in the gun rack so I grabbed it an got the job done.

If I was going out hunting coyotes, I think I would use an AR in 223 or 20 Tactical.

Couple of years ago a few of us had entirely too much time on our hands and decided to work up some varmint loads for rifles that aren't normally considered varmint chamberings. In my case it was for my lightweight elk rifle, a Winchester chambered in .300 RUM. A 125 gr Nosler BT at about 3850 fps.

Managed to shoot one coyote with it. The results were one extremely dead coyote.

Pics? I've hit a couple with my 340 Wby and 300 Win with stout bullets, doing no impressive damage. Just caliber sized entrance and exit holes.

I haven't shot a coyote yet but we have a big problem here with them. I'm going to use a .243 with 38gr. of IMR4350 and a 100 gr. RN. This is what happened to a grey fox with this set up at 60 yards.

Yah, Very pretty but between the fox and the coyotes, they're wiping out the grouse and pheasant population here.
