Default Checking Case Neck & Bullet Runout

Here's a tool that I use to check my case necks & seated bullets for runout. I simply place the case in the jig and spin it allowing the plunge indicator to show me how straight the dies made my ammo

I have one of those. The cost of the measuring tool is nothing to what it will cost you. Now I seem to think everything should be straight, and it is. But it cost lots in different loading componets, tools, to get there.

I find that brass usually settles down a bit after the first firing. (after it forms to a straight chamber)

True, what I ment was, take my 220 swift for example. After I acquired the means to measure runnout, which was not good, then comes better seating dies, etc. And it continues with everything I load. I think one of the best things a person can do is throw away sizing balls and use Lymans M die for expansion of the neck. That with upgraded seating dies, such and Forster's.

How do the "M" dies work? Do you have any pictures of what they look like?

No pictures. All they amount to is an expander. CH4D is where I acquire most of mine. Seems to work better than the expander balls in sizing dies. Although it is another pull of the handle. CH4D expander plugs fit in Lymans M die bodies as well as the body they sell. Works for me.

I started off with the RCBS indicator, but then switched to the Sinclair indicator and found I like the ball bearing blocks better than the V-blocks.

M dies like Lyman, Redding, CH, or whoever are used to put that flare on the case mouth to assist in the seating bullets jacketed or lead. Simple answer simple die.
