Default Let's see your Ruger #1's

Over the past 25 years I've owned many Ruger #1. Some have shot lights out, others were total dogs capable of only 2 or 3 inch groups but as I look at the two currently in my collection one thing is for sure. They are beautiful guns with classic lines. The top one is a 1976 .22-250 B topped off by a 6.5-20x44 Nikon Monarch. The bottom one is a newer model A chambered in .243 Win, topped off by a 4-12x42 Nikon Monarch. Both shoot 1/2" MOA and have collected their share varmints. Anyone out there share a love for the Ruger #1's?

Have 4 currently just no pics. Started with a #1V in .22-250. That was it! Added a .45-70 and then a 1A in .30-06 that was bought with all intentions of rechambering it to .300 H&H. Then added a .405 :)
With the .300 H&H now cataloged in the 1S, I have a pair on order - next two at the distributor are mine say the distributor president. That makes the .30-06's future undecided. (not a fan of the all-to-common chambering) Tempted by the 1A in .35 Whelen from Lipseys and the very much so by the forthcoming .303 Brit. :) A 9.3x74R at a local shop is tempting me each visit. A 7x57 RSI is high on the list.
Have heard good and bad news about this line so I'm in "get 'em" mode.

You gotta love those Rugers. I really like your 300 H&H idea. Many years ago I had a Winchester model 70 chambered in 300 H&H it was a whitetail sledgehammer. I'll be looking at Gunbroker and local shops for a good deal on a #1A to rechamber just don't bump the bid on me. LOL. My wife wonders where I get all these great ideas. Now I got someone new blame. LOL

Not to worry. :) Like I said, I bought mine with all intentions to rechamber it to .300 H&H but instead will simply be content and then some when my pair of factory .300 H&H's get here. Better still is they're 26" bbls not the shorter one as used with the 1A's. The -06 may stay as it is or may get rechambered to something else. Should probably shoot it first and see how it performs.

Your B on the far right with the red butt pad seems to have a really heavy contoured barrel. Is that your 22-250 you mentioned?

It is the .22-250 but it's a 1V not a 1B. Have no 1B's as I prefer to have iron sights on mine.

Helped unload the box containing my pair of #1S's in .300 H&H today. Been a looooong time coming but I own 'em!

Decent wood and pretty good triggers. Now to decide which one to shoot and which one to tuck away.

Finally got the camera for a few minutes...

The pair of new Ruger #1S .300 H&H's

Ok, keep in mind, I'm obviously not a photographer.

Here's the shooter of the pair in amongst it's other family members.
