Thread: Hunting Doubles

    Default Hunting Doubles

I have 2 hunting doubles. The first is my Belgium Browning 12 gauge O/U. Full and modified chokes. I use it for Trap doubles but anything in the field that moves within 75 yd is Dead. I also have a SKB O/U 20 gauge. Skeet and Skeet chokes. Anything within 50 yd is Dead.

I load my own shotshells. For a 12 gauge hunting load could be 1 1/8 of 7 1/2's to 1 1/4 of copper 6's. For 20 gauge 1 oz of 7 1/2's or same in copper 6's. Don't miss much. My other hunt guns are my Winchester Model 12's in 12 and 20 both full choke.

I have found that the older shotguns tend to have tighter chokes than marked, some almost the next tightest. While the measurements are off, I think that a lot of the older pre-plastic wad ammo shot patterns closer to what the barrel is marked. With the CNC machinery the chokes are just about dead on as marked.
